Yanmar Standby Generators
Yanmar Standby Generators: Industrial Diesel Reliability from 5kW to 45kW
A Yanmar standby generator in this collection centers primarily on Maspower's stationary industrial line, built around Yanmar diesel engines for continuous or heavy-duty backup power, alongside two portable Yanmar-branded units for buyers wanting mobility rather than a fixed installation. Output spans from the 5kW MEC5 up through the 45kW Maspower unit, covering a wide range of commercial and industrial applications.
Maspower Industrial Units: 5kW to 45kW
The MEC5 delivers 5kW in a three-phase industrial configuration, suited to smaller commercial applications, while the 13kW, 22kW, 25kW, 35kW, and 45kW models scale up for progressively heavier continuous or standby demand. These units are built for stationary installation rather than portability, positioning them for properties needing sustained, industrial-grade diesel reliability rather than occasional emergency backup alone.
Portable Yanmar Units: A Different Category Within This Collection
The YDG3700W and YDG5500W are worth noting separately, since they're portable diesel generators rather than true standby units, they don't install permanently or start automatically the way the Maspower stationary line does. Buyers specifically looking for automatic standby operation should focus on the Maspower units in this collection; the YDG models suit buyers wanting Yanmar's diesel reliability in a movable, manually-operated package instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the YDG3700W and YDG5500W actually standby generators, or something different?
These are portable diesel units, not automatic standby generators, they require manual setup and starting rather than installing permanently with an automatic transfer switch. If genuine standby operation, starting automatically during an outage without any action from you, is what you need, the Maspower stationary units in this collection are the relevant category instead.
How do I choose the right Maspower capacity for my application?
This depends on your property's total electrical demand and whether the generator will run occasionally for backup or more continuously as a primary power source. Smaller commercial applications often fit the 5kW to 13kW range, while larger industrial or continuous-duty needs generally call for the 22kW to 45kW models, with a proper load calculation being the most reliable way to confirm sizing rather than estimating.
Is the used 25KW trailer-mounted unit a reliable alternative to buying new?
A used unit offers meaningful cost savings but comes with unknown wear history and typically limited or no warranty coverage compared to a new Maspower purchase. If budget is the primary concern and you're comfortable with that uncertainty, the used trailer-mounted option provides access to 25kW capacity at a lower price; if warranty coverage and confirmed condition matter more, the new Maspower 25kW unit is the safer choice.
